In 2009, Wales at Venice will be housed within Capannone 1 of the Ex Birreria (old brewery) on the island of Giudecca . The space is the one in which Richard Deacon showed, in 2007. The space is taller than it is wide, measuring approx 28m x 6m x 7m. It used to be the cool storage area for the brewery, and makes for an imposing space, and an exciting challenge for any artist. There is access to the garden, where permanent artists studios are located. The entrance to Capannone 1, is directly from the pathway leading from the Fondamenta that runs along the bank of the Giudecca Canal.
